Lunar Eclipse and Baby Dust

Throughout the night and into the morning I experienced some intense contractions that woke me out of a sound sleep. Cole woke up around 5:15 and we watched a live stream of the lunar eclipse. You’re all going to think I’m crazy, but the frequency of the contractions increased while the lunar eclipse was happening! They were ranging from 6-8 minutes apart. There are all sorts of articles on moon phases and going into labor so it’s actually not that crazy…

Fast forward to my weekly routine doctor’s appointment this morning. Since I’m 37 weeks tomorrow (what?!) we started to have the discussion of what would happen once I get to 38 weeks. With twins an eviction notice arrives a bit early because they worry about issues with growth and placental degradation. She explained that they’d probably set a date for a c-section or induction for the end of my 38th week/beginning of my 39th week.

I did tell her that I’d been getting some strong contractions so she said she’d check me to see if I’d progressed. She said I am 2cm dilated, 80% effaced and she felt baby A’s head! I’m so excited! I know that some pregnant women take weeks to progress from 2cm to 10cm, but she seems to think that it could be hours or a couple of days…so I’m going to hold onto that hope.

I’ll keep you updated – please send baby dust my way!!
